Gottfried Hirz is the new Red Cross President

With more than half of the votes, favorite Gottfried Hirz, former chairman of the Green Party, was elected the new president of the Upper Austrian Red Cross. This put him just ahead of Wilbirg Mitterlehner, the former district governor of Rohrbach, and well ahead of Hans-Peter Schlachter, the long-standing head of the local branch in Gallneukirchen.

The new president of the Upper Austrian Red Cross was elected on Saturday morning at the Sankt Magdalena education center. Of the three candidates, the favorite and proposal of the election committee Gottfried Hirz prevailed with 55 percent (28 votes). He succeeds Walter Aichinger, who passed away in August.

Clear election victory
Gottfried Hirz, who had to switch to online voting due to illness, was ahead of Wilbirg Mitterlehner, the former district governor of Rohrbach: she received 16 votes. Hans-Peter Schlachter, the long-standing head of the Gallneukirchen branch, received seven votes.
