Murder alert in Lower Austria: Woman (65) has her throat slit

A Slovak is said to have killed a woman (65) with a knife in Zistersdorf in the district of Gänserndorf (Lower Austria) on Friday afternoon. The perpetrator fled after the gruesome act. A manhunt was initiated.

A terrible bloody deed took place on Friday afternoon at around 4.30 pm in Zistersdorf in the Weinviertel district. A Slovak is said to have inflicted several massive cuts to a woman's neck.

65-year-old died at the scene
Despite the emergency doctor being alerted, all help came too late for the victim. The 65-year-old died at the scene. The lifeless woman was discovered in a vineyard in the district of Gösting.

Appeal to neighbors
The perpetrator was still on the run on Friday evening. A large police force was on the lookout for the man. The Cobra special unit, several helicopters and search dogs were also deployed. The police asked all residents to follow the officers' instructions.

Residents evacuated
In the late evening hours, all residents within 200 meters of the man's home were evacuated. The perpetrator is said to have holed up there, not far from the scene of the crime.

According to "Krone" information, the alleged perpetrator is already known to the police for firearms and explosives offenses. The Lower Austrian State Criminal Police Office is currently investigating whether the gruesome murder was preceded by an argument. The motive and background are still unclear. This is the 21st murder of a woman this year.
