Speeding trial: How could a 14-year-old buy a car?

How can someone entrust a child with a car? This is what happened in Carinthia, where a 14-year-old schoolboy spent his savings on an Opel Corsa. Without a driver's license or license sticker, but with stolen license plates, the boy immediately sped off. The joyride ended in a tree - the teenager is now in the dock.

Children only have limited legal capacity. The older they get, the more the law trusts them to do - but a 14-year-old going out and buying a car is of course not allowed! Especially one that no longer had a license plate. And the deal in Klagenfurt marked the beginning of a dark day in the life of the young Carinthian.
