On Saturday morning, the Theater an der Wien opened its doors for the first time after renovation work and they were almost broken down ...

"Those were turbulent times," Stefan Herheim told us at the well-attended reopening of the Theater an der Wien. "But all's well that ends well!" After two and a half years of general refurbishment, the director of the theater seemed visibly relieved - albeit very busy due to the large crowds.

Nevertheless, this special day should be celebrated in style: "It's about art. We're going to celebrate it in a big way ... And then we'll get down to business in our new foyer, in so-called heaven!"

And it did until the premiere performance of "Idomeneo" on the same evening.
