Mountaineer falls to his death in the Karawanken mountains

Rosental mountain rescuers had to be called out to a fatal alpine accident on Saturday. In the Bodental valley, a Carinthian fell 150 meters into the depths and lost his life.

The two Carinthian mountaineers were climbing the Rjautza in the Bodental valley on Saturday when one of them fell 150 meters into the depths for unknown reasons during the descent. "The accident happened in steep, rocky terrain," explains Hubter Schuster from the Ferlach mountain rescue team, which was deployed with a total of eleven people.

In addition to the mountain rescuers, the Libelle police helicopter and the C11 rescue helicopter were also deployed.
