Family released balloons for Richard Lugner

Richard Lugner would have been 92 years old on Friday. In honor of the society builder, his family released heart-shaped balloons at the cemetery in Grinzing. Only his widow Simone was not present, she came to the grave later in her wedding dress and with a small entourage and left her veil behind.

Leo Lugner shared the moving moments on his Instagram story on Friday afternoon. As can be seen in the clip, which was also published in the Lugner City Insta story, the Opera Ball zampano was honored with a glass of sparkling wine before red and white heart balloons were sent into the sky.

Not only the family, Leo, wife Jacqueline and "Mausi" Lugner as well as Mörtel's dog "Michi", came to the cemetery in Grinzing on this day in memory of Richard Lugner, but also numerous employees of Lugner-City.

Only one was missing from the family commemoration: widow Simone. The 42-year-old was recently dismissed from Lugner City. However, she had already revealed in advance that she wanted to commemorate her late husband in a very special way.

And in the wedding dress she wanted to wear on Saturday. Because on October 12, she and Richard Lugner were to receive the church blessing for their civil marriage on June 1 in St. Stephen's Cathedral. 

"I'll get dressed up like I did for the blessing and then visit him," she had announced and then made it happen on his 92nd birthday. Apparently accompanied by a camera crew, which flits through the picture in a TikTok video (see integration), she mourned in the pouring rain at the grave of the deceased. As a sign of her love, she left her veil at the grave.

Richard Lugner died on August 12, 2024, after struggling with health problems in the weeks before and having to undergo serious heart surgery, among other things.
