Boy hit by car: 78-year-old woman loses her license

A serious accident has occurred in Klagenfurt. A child was hit by a car and had to be taken to hospital with injuries. 

A 40-year-old woman from Villach was walking with four children on the Südring in Klagenfurt. They were crossing the road to get to the car. The woman was on a traffic island with the children and waited until it was possible to cross.

At this moment, a 78-year-old woman from Vienna drove her car onto the right-turn lane located there. The 40-year-old assumed that the woman would turn right with her car. However, this was not the case and the 78-year-old woman drove straight on over the traffic island just before the 40-year-old woman and the children.

The pedestrian was able to pull three of the four children back at the last moment. But not an eight-year-old boy. He was hit by the car, hit the hood and subsequently fell to the ground. The child was taken to the ELKI by the ambulance service with undetermined injuries. "The 78-year-old driver's license was taken away temporarily due to her agitated state," the police report.
