Victim (28) brutally beaten up outside a snack bar in Vienna

On Wednesday night, a violent fight broke out at a snack bar in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district. When the police were alerted, the suspect (28) immediately fled.

The suspect (28) was at a snack stand on Praterstern at around 1 am. Suddenly a violent argument broke out between him and the later victim. During the argument, the suspect hit his victim several times with his fists until he was lying on the ground. Attentive witnesses immediately alerted the police.

Suspect arrested
However, the suspect fled shortly afterwards in the direction of Venediger-Au-Park. Thanks to the search measures initiated immediately, the 28-year-old was located and arrested by the officers a short time later.

Heavily intoxicated
The seriously injured victim was given emergency medical treatment by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and taken to hospital. The suspect's alcohol test showed a level of two per mille. He is in police custody. Further investigations are underway.
