Osama bin Laden’s son deported from France

A son of al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden has been deported from France, where he had spent years painting landscapes as an artist in a village in Normandy. The reason: he had published comments on social media that were considered to glorify terrorism.

According to the local weekly newspaper "Le Publicateur Libre", Bin Laden came to the attention of the French authorities through a social media post on his father's birthday.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced that he had signed an order banning Omar bin Laden from entering France - "for whatever reason".

Bin Laden had already been deported before. Retailleau gave no details about the time of the deportation or the place to which Bin Laden was deported. 

His Saudi Arabian-born father Osama bin Laden was the main organizer of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the USA, which left thousands dead. He was killed in 2011 in his hideout in Pakistan by a US special commando. Omar is the fourth eldest son.
