Was Rapid robbed of a goal in the Conference League match against Basaksehir? Guido Burgstaller cheered in vain - the VAR ruled offside. The TV pictures at least caused some discussion.

It's the 13th minute: Matthias Seidl conjures up a strong pass up top to Burgstaller. He doesn't need to be asked twice and turns the ball into the goal. But the jubilation was short-lived. After a brief VAR review, the decision is made: Offside! Burgstaller had been in front of the last Basaksehir defender with his shoulder.

The subsequent slow-motion replay cannot definitively clear up the scene. However, it appears that Rapids' goal scorer ran away at the right moment and the goal should have counted. One user on X was furious and wrote: "Rapid Vienna were absolutely robbed of a goal, how could the VAR say it was offside?" Another wrote: "The cheek of this decision."

Double from Schaub
A close offside decision, but Rapid quickly put it behind them. The Hütteldorfer were fully in the game from the start and posed problems for the Turks. Louis Schaub scored the opening goal in the 43rd minute, but Basaksehir equalized shortly before the break through Krzysztof Piatek. After the break, it was Schaub again who scored a brace to make the final score 2:1.
