Entry ban applied for against Sellner in Zurich

The Zurich cantonal police have applied for an entry ban against the Austrian right-wing extremist Martin Sellner. The far-right Swiss movement "Junge Tat" had previously announced that the Austrian would be giving a lecture in the canton of Zurich on October 19.

The "Junge Tat" group is close to the international Identitarian movement. A lecture by Sellner had already been planned in Tegerfelden last March, but the Aargau cantonal police intervened. The argument: public safety was not guaranteed. An entry ban was also requested. However, the federal government refrained from imposing one in time.

Sellner now faces the same fate again. The Zurich cantonal police have applied for an entry ban against him, which must first be reviewed by the Swiss Federal Office of Police.

"Radical views are not enough"
During the initial review, the office stated: "Radical or extreme views alone are not sufficient grounds for a threat to internal or external security or to justify preventive police measures."

Sellner is the former head of the Identitarian movement in Austria. Among other things, he talks about "remigration", i.e. the fact that a large number of people of foreign origin should leave Germany, for example, even under duress.
