Pan with oil forgotten on the hob

On Sunday, the fire department had to be called out in Lustenau because a tenant had left a pan of oil on the stove in his kitchen. In the end, however, it turned out to be a minor incident.

The Lustenau fire department was informed at around midday that smoke was billowing out of an apartment in a block of flats. Once on site, a breathing apparatus unit used a ladder to gain access to the apartment via a window that was only ajar.

The case quickly became clear: there was a pan of oil on the hob, which was literally going up in smoke. There were no people in the apartment at the time. The tenant returned a short time later. The apartment was then ventilated using a large fan. No one was injured and there was no damage to the kitchen.
