Head-on crash with truck claims one victim

Dramatic scenes unfolded on Görtschitztal Straße (Carinthia) on Monday morning. A 31-year-old woman from Klagenfurt collided with a truck and suffered such serious injuries that she died at the scene of the accident.

The 31-year-old was driving her car on Görtschitztal Straße on Monday morning when she collided with a truck between the entrance to Brückl and Donau Chemie for unknown reasons. The woman's car was thrown off the road and came to a standstill on a cycle path.

The driver was probably killed instantly
A large contingent of rescuers, firefighters and police immediately made their way to the scene of the accident. "She was probably dead on the spot and had to be cut out of the wreck and rescued by the Brückl fire department using hydraulic rescue equipment," said the Brückl volunteer fire department, which was deployed together with the St. Filippen and Eberstein fire brigades.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries in the collision. The Görtschitztal road was closed for four hours after the accident.
