Thief rents rooms in hotels on Lake Wörthersee

Several hotels on Lake Wörthersee were the target of a 58-year-old thief. Now the woman from Villach has been caught red-handed. 

The woman from Villach is no stranger to the police when it comes to stealing. Now the repeat offender has struck again and is suspected of committing several thefts in Villach and Velden at the weekend. Her booty: smartphones, laptops, wallets and pieces of luggage.

After her theft spree in Villach, the 58-year-old woman rented a room in a hotel in Velden and struck at several hotel and commercial establishments there.

However, the Carinthian woman had probably not expected to be caught. She was immediately identified on the basis of video recordings from one of the businesses concerned and arrested in the Velden area after a local manhunt.

Several smartphones, a high-priced laptop, cash and a trolley with food were seized in her hotel room. The current total loss amounts to several thousand euros. Further investigations must be carried out, according to the police. The perpetrator was taken to Klagenfurt correctional facility.
