Shock for the passengers of a hot air balloon in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel on Friday! Due to a lack of wind, the pilot (59) decided to make an emergency landing in a wooded area. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the dicey incident.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 pm. The 59-year-old from Rhineland-Palatinate was piloting a hot-air balloon flight from Kirchberg to Kitzbühel. "As the necessary winds failed shortly before landing in Kitzbühel above a wooded area, he was unable to leave the wooded area," said the police.

The three passengers in the balloon, who came from the Unterallgäu district, were uninjured.

As it was impossible to reach the landing site and the gas was running low, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing in the forest. Two TVB employees and six men from Kitzbühel Mountain Rescue were on duty.
