Crashed head-on into tractor after overtaking maneuver

Serious accident in Matreiwald in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck on Friday afternoon! A local motorcyclist (18) crashed head-on into the tractor of a farmer (69) after an overtaking maneuver. The biker was seriously injured in the crash.

The accident happened at around 5 pm. The 18-year-old was riding his motorcycle northbound on the Brennerstraße B182 in the municipality of Matreiwald. At the same time, the 69-year-old was driving south on his tractor. "The farmer turned left into his farmyard," said the police.

The 18-year-old crashed head-on into the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

While turning, the motorcyclist overtook a car, which is why he overlooked the tractor. "As a result, the 18-year-old crashed head-on into the 69-year-old's vehicle and sustained serious injuries." Passers-by provided first aid to the casualty. An emergency doctor and the crew of an ambulance provided further first aid at the scene. 

The biker was then taken to Innsbruck Hospital. The farmer escaped with a shock. The tractor sustained serious damage and the motorcycle was a total loss.
