Alpine police officers rescue colleague from the floods

Dramatic operation for two alpine police officers in the St. Pölten district: After a female officer was swept away by the water during an operation in Neulengbach, every second counted. She was rescued safely from the danger zone. 

Two alpine police officers from Kirchberg an der Pielach and Lunz am See became real lifesavers in an emergency yesterday, Sunday: as the two were just setting out on a mission, a report came in over the radio about a colleague in distress. 

Caught in the floods
An operation in Neulengbach took a dramatic turn for the policewoman herself: she was swept away by the masses of water and drifted off. She only just managed to cling on to a power pole - the water was up to her neck.

Out of the danger zone
The two colleagues made their way through the water and one of them finally managed to swim the last 100 meters. The officer managed to get the colleague to a truck on the flooded B19. From there, the heavy vehicle was driven out of the danger zone to safety.
