From a former farming village to a commuter and bricklaying village to a modern technology and tourism community: village renewal award in gold for the village of 1100 inhabitants near Oberpullendorf

Mayor Erich Trummer (SPÖ) proudly presented the certificate, which was presented to him in the presence of prominent political figures at Schlaining Castle: His municipality of Neutal in central Burgenland was awarded the European Village Renewal Prize in the gold category.

According to Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, village renewal in Burgenland has become a success story, not least thanks to the corresponding funding from the state and the European Union. "This award is a confirmation of particularly liveable villages. The entire population wins in village renewal!"

According to the jury, Neutal has developed impressively from a former farming village to a commuter and bricklaying village to a modern technology and tourism community today. In addition to Neutal, three other Austrian municipalities were successful in the gold category of the competition: the Hermagor region (Carinthia), Oberhofen im Inntal (Tyrol) and Reinsberg (Lower Austria).
