Rain and storm! Bundesliga cancels match

Heavy rain and violent squalls also lead to cancellations in the Bundesliga! The home match between runners-up Salzburg and Austria Klagenfurt on Saturday (5pm) has been called off due to the pitch conditions and the persistent heavy rain. And the second division is also affected.

This was announced by the league on Friday afternoon after a pre-match inspection of the Red Bull Arena. Previously, the two Friday games in the 2nd Football League between SKN St. Pölten against Admira and Rapid II against Amstetten had already been called off.

"Due to the heavy rainfall of the last few days, the ground was already extremely deep in many areas of the pitch," Salzburg announced in a press release. "As the weather forecasts for the coming days do not indicate any improvement, but rather further precipitation," the cancellation was unavoidable.

In the second division, Rapid's youth team would have played on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Allianz Stadium, while Admira would have played at 8.30 p.m. in the Lower Austrian capital. The dates for the new fixtures should be fixed soon.
