Man (68) doused with gasoline and set on fire

Assault on the open road! A 37-year-old man poured petrol over a 68-year-old man at a bus stop in the German city of Cuxhaven - and then set him on fire. A special task force arrested the perpetrator.

The victim suffered burns and was taken to hospital, police said on Friday.

Police caught the perpetrator
The suspected perpetrator initially fled on Thursday. A special task force then arrested a 37-year-old man during the course of the night.

The police did not initially provide any details about the 68-year-old's exact injuries or the background to the crime. The officers are investigating attempted murder.

"The smell of petrol and burnt material was extreme. It was hard to bear," described an eyewitness.
