Tracking devices in e-bikes led to serial thief

The theft of two e-bikes with tracking devices at a campsite in Tyrol on Wednesday night led police to the cellar of an apartment building. The owner, a 30-year-old German, had also stashed other stolen sports equipment there. 

At around 11:00 pm, two unlocked e-bikes were stolen from a campsite in Neustift in the Stubai Valley. "Both bikes were equipped with a tracking device", according to the police.

In the course of the investigation, the officers checked the last reported location, an apartment building in Neustift. In the end, the stolen e-bikes and other stolen sports equipment were located and recovered in the apartment and cellar of a 30-year-old German man.

Total loss of over 10,000 euros
"The accused partially confessed," said the police. Once the investigations have been completed, the German will be charged with 14 counts at the public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck. The total damage amounts to a low five-digit euro sum.
