Team Kärnten pays settlement out of its own pocket

Nobody expected this: The Peter Jost issue is off the table for good. At the city senate meeting, the Team Kärnten club surprised everyone with its proposal to pay the settlement costs of 250,000 euros itself in the proceedings against the former municipal director. This was accepted unanimously.

Mayor Christian Scheider can take a deep breath. He had extended the Jost contract by three years in December 2022 with emergency clauses and had been caught in the crossfire ever since. The other parties did not play along at the time and sent the 65-year-old Jost into retirement last year. He responded by suing the city for reinstatement. The final amount in dispute was 770,000 euros.

Because the proceedings would take forever, Jost agreed to the settlement offer a few days ago. And in the end, so did the parties. The SP ordered an adjournment of the meeting. In the evening, however, they agreed. The FP was also in favor. The VP went along anyway. The vote was therefore unanimous. The Jost issue is history.

The head of the city will pay the most of the settlement amount, and Deputy Mayor Alexander Kastner will also pay more. The rest will be divided up within the club. The sum will be transferred by next Friday. "We have found a way to end all proceedings. Now the way is clear for new paths," says Scheider.
