Gerhard Berger is getting married. Austria's former Formula 1 hero will soon say "I do" to Helene, as he explained in an ORF interview on the sidelines of the Grand Prix in Monza.

"We've been together for 15 or 16 years and will be getting married soon," explained Berger. On the occasion of his 65th birthday, he spoke to Ernst Hausleitner about his (private) life. And revealed in this context that he is heading for the harbor of marriage once again.

Racing driver Johann?
Another topic in this very personal conversation: the possible racing career of his eight-year-old son Johann. He is currently unsettling the kart tracks of this world. Always at his side: Gerhard Berger. "It's pure joy with him."

He now has the time to devote himself intensively to his son. "Just him and me in the hotel - we have to talk to each other, concentrate on the two of us." He often lacked this time in the past with his older children.

Tensions
Speaking of which, Berger said it would be nice if all the children and grandchildren were in one place. It's just unrealistic. "I tried this exercise a few times and it didn't work out." There is still tension because of the separation from his first wife many years ago, he said. "It's not the patchwork family that I would wish for," says the ten-time Grand Prix winner openly.
