The association voting only runs until September 1: "Kärntner Krone" presents the nominated heart associations - today: Herzkinder Kärnten.

Every year, around 700 babies with heart defects are born in Austria, many of whom cannot survive without major heart surgery. A challenging time for parents - the Herzkinder association tries to help in the best possible way, both financially and with advice.

A big heart for children
"We support families very unbureaucratically," says Christine Wuksch, herself the mother of a child with heart disease and volunteer manager of the association's branch in Carinthia. A heart children's meeting takes place once or twice a year: Heart children and their families go out together to share experiences, and May 5, the "Day of the Child with Heart Disease", is also celebrated.

The "Heart Run" is also part of the offer, which took place in Baldramsdorf this year in June: "Professionals, amateurs and children run together here - when the children you have looked after for years run towards you, your heart opens!", says Wuksch emotionally. In the truest sense of the word - a real heart club!
