Hot ashes from barbecue triggered forest fire

A hiker discovered a forest fire in Tyrol on Friday and raised the alarm. The fire was most likely started by hot ashes from a barbecue.

The 48-year-old Austrian was hiking in the municipality of Steinach am Brenner near the Bergeralm middle station when he suddenly noticed a forest fire. The man then informed the control center.

No one was injured
The Steinach am Brenner volunteer fire department arrived immediately and successfully extinguished the fire. "The forest fire was most likely started by hot ashes from a barbecue in the outbreak area," said the police. Fortunately, no one was injured.
