Charity cycling for children in Lebanon

Benefit cyclists pedaled hard on the Salzburgring on Sunday: 5,588 euros were raised. The donations were collected for a school in Lebanon and handed over to the Initiative Christlicher Orient. 

The charity event was organized by the Koppler Initiative "Future for Lebanon" and held in cooperation with the Salzburgring. The donations will be used to support the St. Vincent School of the Sisters of Besançon in Baskinta/Lebanon.

One euro per kilometer cycled
The idea behind it: For every kilometer cycled on the 4.255-kilometer Salzburgring, cyclists donated one euro or more. Everyone was addressed - from families with dedicated little cyclists to the older generation: everyone should have the opportunity to ride on the otherwise closed Salzburgring.

More than 250 people of all ages did not miss out on this unique opportunity. One particularly sprightly pensioner covered more than 120 kilometers. There was a special skills course for the youngest and there was also plenty of food and drink on offer.

The proud result: 5588 euros were raised in total. The weather gods were also kind to the amateur athletes at the Salzburgring. Stefan Maier, Project Coordinator at the Christian Orient Initiative: "We would like to thank everyone for their fantastic efforts!"
