Small child, big leap: what school demands
A new school year has begun—this is an especially exciting time for first-graders. And for good reason: The long list of skills that incoming first-graders need to bring with them is challenging. Krone+ shows what your child needs to be able to do right now.
Whether a child is ready for school is determined during the school registration process, which mostly takes place in January of the year in which the child is scheduled to start elementary school in the fall. Roughly speaking, the requirement is that the child should be able to follow lessons without being physically, linguistically, or mentally overwhelmed.
If school readiness is confirmed, school starts in September—and by then at the latest, children need the following cognitive, social, and motor skills, which are now important for every child:
