Escape at 140 km/h!

Car stolen, then teen (15) drove through Vienna

At a speed of up to 140 km/h, a 15-year-old fled from the police in a stolen car in Vienna on Saturday night. The boy apparently wanted to go on a joyride through the city with his friends. However, he immediately attracted attention due to his unsafe driving style.

It was already dark - around 10.15 p.m. - when the police became aware of the 15-year-old driver. Together with his friends (male 14, two females 15 and 16), the teenager was speeding through Donaustadt. When the driver noticed the police, he suddenly increased his speed to around 140 km/h and tried to flee out of town. 

Two police cars rammed
In the course of the journey, one tire of the fleeing driver's vehicle was damaged. The young man also rammed into two police vehicles, damaging them and rendering them unroadworthy. After this maneuver, the fugitive's vehicle finally came to a standstill. All occupants were arrested by the police. 

Arrests of the passengers lifted
It was established that the vehicle had been stolen just a few days earlier. Several stolen license plates were also discovered in the car. "As only the driver could be charged with criminal offenses at the time, the arrests of the passengers were lifted after a short time," explains police spokeswoman Barbara Gass. The interrogations are still pending and the arrested man is in police custody.
