What on earth drives a person to senselessly destroy someone else's property? Especially when it's a wayside shrine! The one in memory of the deceased Leon (6) was recently demolished by unknown vandals. The Tyrolean police are now looking for witnesses.

Six-year-old Leon died two years ago. At the end of August 2022, the child was recovered dead from the Kitzbüheler Ache near St. Johann in Tirol. His father was targeted by the police in the course of the investigation. Just a few weeks ago, after 523 days in custody, he was acquitted in a spectacular trial at Innsbruck Regional Court!

A memorial along the "Redford Promenade" in St. Johann commemorates the deceased six-year-old. This is exactly what has now been targeted by vandals. On Saturday morning, a walker reported the damage to the memorial plaque to the local police station.

Pane smashed with a cobblestone
"According to the investigations so far, the unknown perpetrators are likely to have damaged the glass pane of the wooden box with a cobblestone," the investigators said. The damage has since been repaired. The police are now looking for possible witnesses.
