Family rescued from sinking luxury yacht

A trip on a luxury yacht off Mallorca almost ended in a nightmare for a German family. The boat was filled with water and was in danger of sinking.

The Salvamento Maritimo sea rescue service was called to the southwest coast of Mallorca, to Camp de Mar, on Saturday morning. The harbor master there reported a sinking ship.

Yacht no longer salvageable
Fortunately, when the rescuers arrived, another ship had already picked up the five passengers, including a German family with their underage son. According to the Spanish newspaper "Ultima Hora", the yacht was already half sunk at this point.

The sea rescuers later shared a photo of the sinking yacht on their Twitter profile. 

It is unclear how the water broke in. According to the sea rescue service, the yacht could no longer be saved, but fortunately there was no leakage of fuel or engine oil.

What will happen to the yacht? Once the boat has reached the seabed, the owner is obliged to draw up and submit a salvage plan, reported the newspaper "Bild". Later, the owner must also pay for the salvage.
