Repair bonus soon applies to all bikes

Good news for bike fans! From September 16, the Climate Ministry's repair bonus can also be redeemed for bicycles without electric motor support and for bicycle trailers.

Previously, the federal government's funding only applied to devices with electronic or electrical components, so e-bikes were eligible, but normal bikes were not. From racing bikes to mountain bikes, all common bicycles will be covered in future, the ministry announced on Wednesday.

The subsidy per receipt amounts to 50 percent of the repair costs up to a value of 200 euros for a repair, service or maintenance or 30 euros for a cost estimate.

What are the conditions?
The repair bonus can be applied for by all private individuals resident in Austria on a dedicated website and redeemed within three weeks at one of the participating partner companies.

The entire invoice amount must be paid to the partner company and the subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the applicant's bank account.

What do businesses have to do?
From now on, bicycle repair businesses can also register as partner businesses at www.reparaturbonus.at. The repair bonus can only be redeemed at registered businesses.

According to the Ministry, over one million devices have been repaired since the repair bonus was introduced. So far, 130 million euros from the EU Recovery and Resilience Fund have been available for this purpose. 124 million euros from national funds are now available for the continuation, 92 million euros for 2024 and 32 million for 2025.
