Help after accident caused second crash

Two injured cyclists, a racing cyclist and a motorcyclist, had to be taken to Spittal Hospital by the ambulance service on Tuesday. While the cyclist had been hit by a van and several drivers behind stopped, the biker was unable to brake in time.

In an accident, things always go wrong, as the saying goes. And things also happened at the wrong time on Tuesday morning between Rothenthurn and Spittal: on the B 100, the driver of a van from Klagenfurt (42) hit a racing cyclist (35) from the provincial capital with his wing mirror while overtaking. The cyclist fell and was seriously injured.

The driver of the van stopped to administer first aid and set the rescue chain in motion. Two other drivers also stopped to help. However, a motorcyclist from Salzburg (43) was unable to brake in time and crashed into the parked car of a 43-year-old woman and the oncoming car of a 63-year-old woman.

The biker was thrown from the motorcycle and lay seriously injured in the ditch.

The B 100 was closed for around two hours while the injured were treated and the accident was investigated.
