As with most things, there are two sides to the coin when it comes to building sites. They can be urgently needed - as in this example. And yet it is undisputed that local residents are suffering as a result. The people of Innsbruck will have to live with the roadworks in Mühlau until mid-December. One local resident describes the difficult situation.

"I'm about to cry," says Gertrude Kuen, hotel manager of the Koreth, as she brings the "Krone" a coffee in porcelain. The fragile crockery looks like a stark contrast to the huge construction site with the torn up asphalt outside her front door on Mühlauer Platzl. "When the drill goes off, the whole house shakes."
