Cyclist (35) in artificial deep sleep after crash

A 35-year-old cyclist crashed in Rosental an der Kainach (Voitsberg district) on Wednesday evening and suffered serious injuries. The exact cause of the accident is still unclear. He had to be put into an artificial deep sleep at the scene of the accident. The Red Cross is urging people to wear helmets.

On Wednesday evening, the Red Cross was called to an accident involving a cyclist in Rosental an der Kainach. A 35-year-old man had fallen for unknown reasons and suffered serious injuries. Two first aiders were already on site and attended to the man from western Styria.

Put into an artificial deep sleep on the spot
Unfortunately, he had not been wearing a helmet when he fell, which resulted in fatal head injuries. The emergency medical team had to put him into an artificial deep sleep on the spot. The Christophorus 17 rescue helicopter took the cyclist to Graz University Hospital.

Red Cross appeals to all cyclists
The Red Cross would like to emphasize that adults should also wear a helmet when cycling. This could reduce or even prevent serious head injuries with serious consequences in the event of a fall.
