ÖSV junior world champion’s knees are aching

At the end of January, Victoria Olivier crowned her comeback season after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in October 2022 with gold in the Junior World Championship downhill. As a bonus, she was able to celebrate her World Cup debut at the final in Saalbach in March. In addition to experience, the Vorarlberg native also took a very unpleasant ailment with her from the World Cup venue.

 "It was a patula tip syndrome caused by overuse," revealed the 20-year-old on the sidelines of her trip to the Red Bull Ring, where she was invited by her head sponsor Rauch Fruchtsäfte to take a seat in a Formula 4 car and step on the gas. "At first I only had problems on the right, but now both knees are affected."

As a result, there was always a twinge during preparation. "That's why we had to keep coming up with alternatives in terms of training," says the Head skier, who was back on skis for the first time last week. "I was actually hoping that it would get better in the four months after Saalbach, but it will probably take more time. But I'm staying positive and trying to look forward to the start of the season with optimism."
