IT chaos: all-clear from railroads and supermarkets

The Austrian Federal Railways and Westbahn are currently not feeling the effects of the massive global IT problems. The retailers Spar and Rewe have also given the all-clear.

Massive IT problems at the US cybersecurity company Crowdstrike paralyzed numerous Windows systems worldwide on Friday.

International air traffic in particular was affected, but banks, hospitals, broadcasters and telecommunications companies also reported disruptions.

The IT problems currently have no impact on domestic rail traffic. The software causing the problems is simply not used by ÖBB. However, the situation is being monitored.

The all-clear has also been given by the supermarket chains Spar and Rewe. All Spar systems are working without any problems and nothing is standing in the way of weekend shopping.

According to a spokeswoman, there are also no problems with IT in Rewe stores (Billa, Billa Plus, Penny, Adeg, Bipa).
