Weissenbach Theater Days

An entire region discovers longing

The village community of Weißenbach in Haus im Ennstal will once again become a Styrian theater center from July 19. Once again, the Weißenbach Theatre Days bring classics in a new guise, world premieres and exciting interpretations.

Shakespeare, Sophocles and Jelinek are all on the bill at this year's Weißenbach Theatre Days. There are also comedies, musical evenings and plays for the whole family. In short: everyone will find something to their liking in the program for these two weeks until August 2.

There will be a playful overview of the program at the opening on 19 July at 7.15 pm in front of the Gsöllhof, which will mutate into a theater during the festival. You can get your first impressions there. Eight top-class productions from Vienna, Graz, Oberzeiring, Upper Austria, Lower Austria and even Frauenfeld in Switzerland will follow in the days that follow.

Great entertainment is guaranteed when Frau Franzi from Grünbach discovers Shakespeare for herself or when the Grein Summer Festival invites you to a "farewell dinner". Graz's Mezzanintheater takes a poetic trip back to childhood with "Früher" and invites everyone aged 6 and over to join in.

A regular guest is the Theater Oberzeiring, whose program this year includes Estar Vilar's "The Strategy of the Butterflies". The Wiener Ensemble 21 takes on Sophocles' "Elektra", Birgit Fuchs shows Elfriede Jelinek's "Begierde und Fahrerlaubnis".

Susanne Odermatt and Patrick Boog from Switzerland present the exciting relationship thriller "Die Deutschlehrerin" at . And the grand finale is in the hands of Martina Zinner from Theater im Bahnhof, who causes a sensation as "Hilde".
