Hammer attack in Vienna: Man’s life in danger!

Hammer attack in Vienna: In Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus in Meiselstraße, three people were injured by a 29-year-old man shortly after midnight. The man is said to have first hit the victims - two men and a woman - with a hammer and then robbed them of their bags. One person's life is now in danger!

The terrible incident is said to have occurred ten minutes after midnight on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Serbian is said to have attacked two men (39, 51) and a woman (43) with a hammer and robbed one of the men and the woman of their bags. The suspect then fled the scene. 

Victim (51) in mortal danger after attack
Attentive passers-by quickly alerted the police. The victims were immediately treated by the Vienna emergency services and taken to hospital. The 51-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack. 

Interrogation of the victims still pending
A short time later, the 29-year-old suspect was apprehended and arrested near the scene of the crime. "The stolen property and the murder weapon were seized. The Vienna State Office of Criminal Investigation, Western Branch, has taken over the investigation", police spokeswoman Barbara Gass announced on Tuesday. The questioning of the victims and the suspect is still pending. The arrested man is currently in police custody.
