A carelessly discarded sex doll has triggered a major police and fire department operation in Bavaria. A pedestrian had noticed what she thought was a lifeless body in a pond in Pödeldorf in Upper Franconia and alerted the emergency services, according to the Bamberg police station. 

The emergency services, police and fire department arrived with a large contingent - but were quickly able to give the all-clear.

"Previous owner's heart broken"?
"The exposed body, which was floating belly down in the water, was a disposed of, lifelike-looking love doll," the police statement said.

The background to the incident remained unclear, but stimulated the imagination of the police press office. "Whether it (the doll, editor's note) broke the heart of its unknown previous owner and he therefore parted with his precious piece remains uncertain", the official statement said.

In any case, the fire department "took care of its proper disposal".
