Moscow attacked by drone again for the first time in a long time

On Thursday night, Moscow was attacked by a Ukrainian drone for the first time in a long time. Other Russian regions such as Belgorod also came under fire. One man was killed when a drone hit a car.

Three other people were injured. Belgorod is located on the border with Ukraine and is the Russian region most frequently under fire. On Thursday night, reciprocal drone attacks were reported again, including an attack on Russia's capital Moscow. The incident ended without serious consequences and the drone had already been shot down near a small town, said the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin.

Unlike Belgorod, Moscow, which is almost 700 kilometers away, is rarely targeted by Ukrainian drones. An attempted attack was last reported a month ago. There were strikes last summer, when the economic center of Moscow City was hit, among others. Since then, air defenses have been massively reinforced.

Buffer zone in Kharkiv
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the armed forces are currently trying to create a buffer zone in the Kharkiv region in north-eastern Ukraine. This is intended to protect Belgorod from attacks. Russian troops launched a new offensive a few weeks ago.

The capture of another village was reported on Thursday. The village of Voskhod is located near a section of the front where Russian troops have made rapid gains in recent weeks. According to Ukrainian sources, the current fighting in the Donetsk region is currently the fiercest on the entire front line. The Ukrainian army is struggling with a shortage of ammunition and weapons. Putin is demanding that Ukrainian troops withdraw from the four regions he has declared annexed in order to achieve peace.
