“Absolute dream player”: Sturm sign ex-Rapidler

After two seasons in Italy and England, Emanuel Aiwu is returning to the Bundesliga and will play for Sturm Graz in future. As the champions announced on Wednesday, the 23-year-old has signed a contract with the Mur until 2028. 

Aiwu moved from Rapid to Cremonese in Serie A in the summer of 2022. Last year, he played for Birmingham City on loan in the English second division following the club's relegation. Aiwu was also relegated with Birmingham.

Sturm's sporting director Andreas Schicker spoke of an "absolute dream player" for the central defense. "Emanuel is still a young player, but he has already gained a lot of experience in the extremely competitive English second division and especially in the top European league Serie A." Aiwu traveled to Storm's training camp in Irdning on Wednesday. He is set to replace David Affengruber, who has not extended his contract with Graz.
