13-year-old child is missing at Lake Keutschach

It was suspected that a tragic accident had occurred at Lake Keutschach. The fire department and water rescue team searched for a child. Fortunately, the all-clear was given.

A tragic swimming accident was reported to have occurred this afternoon at Strandcamping Süd on Lake Keutschach. "According to the report, a child is missing. Our divers are also on site," explained Wolfgang Germ from the Klagenfurt professional fire department in response to an inquiry from Krone. "They are working together with other alerted fire departments and the water rescue service."

A 48-year-old man from Graz had reported his 13-year-old son missing. "The boy had gone swimming alone from the jetty at his campsite at around 2:30 p.m. and had not returned," reported the police.

Fortunately, the emergency services were quickly able to find the boy unharmed at another nearby lido. "He said he was blurry and no longer knew where he was," said the police. "The boy was handed over to his father unharmed." In addition to the Keutschach fire brigade with 10 people, the Libelle police helicopter was also deployed.
