Motorcyclist dead, pillion rider’s wife seriously injured

A 56-year-old man from Slovakia was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident on Sunday. His 55-year-old wife, who was riding pillion, is fighting for her life. The driver is believed to have slipped on the road.

On Sunday morning, the 56-year-old motorcyclist and his wife (55), both from Slovakia, were traveling on the B 97 from Murau in the direction of St. Georgen am Kreischberg. "In a right-hand bend, the motorcycle skidded on the rain-soaked road", is how the regional police directorate describes the course of the serious accident.

The bike crashed into the left side of an oncoming car driven by a 35-year-old man from Vienna and then into another car driven by a 62-year-old man from Vienna. 

Passenger fights for her life
The driver of the motorcycle suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. His wife was seriously injured and is fighting for her life in Klagenfurt Regional Hospital. The two car drivers were uninjured.
