Sustainable & affordable: New SoMa location opens

As in the provincial capital, Carinthia's social supermarkets (SoMa) have now also upgraded in Villach. 

"The social markets are bursting at the seams, which is why the general assembly decided to move to a new, larger and more inviting location in Villach," said Theres Leber, Managing Director of the SoMa Kärnten association, in an interview with Krone. Since opening in 2003, the Villach social market has been located in Klagenfurter Straße - now it has moved to Ringmauergasse 7.

Ever longer customer list
And has now also been officially opened. Demand for the charitable facilities has (as reported) risen sharply in the wake of inflation - and the customer list is getting longer and longer. "The wave of inflation is hitting the poorest of the poor even harder," says Theres Leber. In the district towns alone, hundreds of people come to shop at reduced prices every day.
