Just a few days after a fatal incident involving cows on a mountain pasture in Salzburg, there was another serious accident involving cattle in Tyrol on Friday. A German (59) was seriously injured during a hike in Ötztal. 

Shortly before 1 pm, the 59-year-old German was hiking in the area of the Timmelsjoch road in Gurgl (Imst district) when he was suddenly attacked by a cow.

Flown to Innsbruck clinic
The man was seriously injured in the attack. "After receiving first aid, the hiker was flown to Innsbruck Hospital by the Martin 8 emergency helicopter," said the police.

Fatal attack in Salzburg
On Wednesday a week ago, a 40-year-old local woman was killed by a herd of cows in the Schlossalm area (municipality of Bad Hofgastein). The woman was hiking with her two daughters (aged 20 and 23) and two small dogs on the afternoon of her birthday when they were attacked by the animals.
