Cries for help trigger unsuccessful search operation

A hut owner in Hintersee heard cries for help on Thursday afternoon, which were also confirmed by other witnesses. However, after hours of searching, the alerted mountain rescuers found no one.

Around midday on Thursday, the landlady of the Gruberalm hut in Hintersee heard cries for help from above the hut. She immediately alerted the emergency services. A large contingent of Salzburg and St. Gilgen mountain rescuers, the Libelle police helicopter and a drone from both the police and fire department set off in search of an injured person.

However, after hours of unsuccessful searching in rough terrain between the Gruberalm and Regenspitz, the operation was called off in the evening. The landlady had reported that the calls had gradually become weaker. Three other witnesses had also heard the calls. As the search flights with thermal imaging cameras did not yield any results either, the operation was ended in the evening. At this point, no missing persons had been reported.
