Following the Austrian national soccer team's group win and victory over the Netherlands, European Championship fever is running rampant throughout the country. So it's no wonder that a 26-year-old Tyrolean wanted to watch the round of 16 match against Turkey live in the stadium. But while searching for tickets, he fell for a scammer.

On Thursday, the young man was looking for tickets for the European Championship match between Austria and Turkey next Tuesday on a social media platform. "He became aware of an advertisement and contacted the unknown provider via a short message service," the police said.

After several written and telephone correspondences, the 26-year-old finally transferred several hundred euros for three promised tickets. After the man did not receive the tickets he had already paid for, he filed a complaint with the police.
