Marc D. brought to safety after threats

For months now, 24-year-old Viennese Marc D. has been waiting for a small sign of hope. The only ray of hope in his case - the Austrian is accused of child abuse and the kidnapping of an alleged 15-year-old girl in the US state of Florida - is that he has now been moved to another prison wing.

The young Viennese is now in a "more spacious wing", a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday. The transfer was made at his request, she said.

Safe for the time being
Before he was transferred, the German citizen was threatened by fellow prisoners - but he is now likely to be safe for the time being. The Foreign Ministry confirmed the "move" to the "Krone" and also a visit to the prison by the local Consul General from Washington. Meanwhile, Carl-Christian Thier's law firm is fighting for initial access to the extremely convoluted case.

As reported, the love-drunk chats between Marc and his internet acquaintance are likely to play a role. Whether or how they will be admitted by the local court is still up in the air, however.
