Very strong! Austria’s medley relay team wins European Championship gold

What a truly "golden Sunday" for Austrian swimming: less than an hour after Felix Auböck's superior triumph in the 400 m crawl, the red-white-red medley relay team also won gold!

The team of Bernhard Reitshammer, Valentin Bayer, Simon Bucher and Heiko Gigler, who came third at the European Championships in Rome 2022 and sixth at the World Championships in Doha 2024, won by a wafer-thin margin ahead of Poland (+0.03 seconds) and Ukraine (+0.09 seconds).

Of course, winning gold in the 4 x 100 meter medley was not necessarily unexpected, as the OSV quartet had reached the final with the second-fastest time.
