A 61-year-old man poured hot water over his daughter in Birkenfeld, Lower Franconia, Germany on Saturday evening. The 19-year-old was seriously injured in the incident. She suffered scalds and was taken to hospital.

According to reports, there had previously been an argument between the two in their shared apartment, during which the 61-year-old is said to have poured a bucket of hot water over the 19-year-old.

According to a police spokesperson, the man wanted to use the water for showering as the shower was not working. The police are now investigating the man for dangerous bodily harm.
